Dear Mr. Partridge,

In accordance with the request of Mr. McCabe of Sydney I forward to you by registered post this day the book of photographs of your pictures that I received from him some time ago through the Hon. Sir J.G. Ward. I regret to say that the price asked by Mr. McCabe is considered by the Government to be too high and I have notified him accordingly. I should like to ask you non officially whether you would permit copies
of six of the portrait pictures to be made for the Colonial Museum. I should very much like to have seen the whole lot in the new Museum which I hope will soon be erected, as the collection is unique and interesting. I am sorry I did not see you when I was in Auckland but I believe you were enjoying yourself in the Phillipines.
